Naver CEO Choi Soo-yeon said during the second quarter earnings conference call on August 7 that revenue from AI Factory, built with NVIDIA, is expected to start in the first half of next year. The company plans to launch services at a scale of 55 megawatts (MW) starting in 2027, expand to 100 MW by the end of 2027, and further to 200 MW in 2028, aiming for gigawatt-scale infrastructure. Choi called the investment “an investment in a structurally growing market, not a one-off business opportunity,” citing generative AI expansion, AI transformation, and growth of inference and AI agents as drivers of medium to long-term global demand. She noted that while low-cost, high-efficiency models raise concerns about reduced computing usage, declining cost per operation will boost AI adoption, inference, and agents, increasing overall demand. On competitiveness, she stressed that expanding supply requires significant time due to power, land, equipment, personnel, and social acceptance, but Naver has prepared power supply, land, capital partners, and full-stack AI operations capability, plus technological collaboration with NVIDIA.
