Bae, Kim & Lee (BKL) said on the 31st that it has built a firmwide work system using global and domestic legal artificial intelligence (AI) along with general-purpose AI. After operating the global legal AI platform "Harvey" since on the 1st, Taepyungyang will introduce OpenAI's enterprise AI service "ChatGPT Enterprise" starting on the 1st of next month. The AIs are divided by work purpose: Harvey for international contract review and analysis of foreign laws; domestic legal AIs such as LBOX and Superlawyer for searches of domestic precedents and statutes and domestic cases; and ChatGPT Enterprise for general-purpose tasks such as document drafting, data analysis, and translation. It is also developing its own AI based on internal knowledge and practical data, with an internal beta planned for September and full operation in November. AI accounts will be provided to all professionals, including more than 700 lawyers in Korea and overseas, and to staff departments with high work relevance. It will share use cases and provide training by practice group, and plans to review usage status and adjust the system. Security and governance frameworks were established; Harvey and ChatGPT Enterprise operate in a corporations environment in which client and case-related data are not used for AI model training. All tools, including domestic legal AIs, will undergo advance review of data-processing conditions and security requirements, with internal guidelines and expert verification procedures applied.
