East Japan Railway Co. (JR East) is testing artificial intelligence and drones across the greater Tokyo area in the search for a silver-bullet system that can promptly resume disrupted train operations during emergencies. A surveillance camera installed along the Yamanote Line can take up to 400 photos of pantographs on a running train for analysis by artificial intelligence.
