Ping An Bank, UnionPay, and Tencent Launch China's First "AI Compute …

On June 30, Ping An Bank, in partnership with China UnionPay and Tencent Cloud, launched China's first debit card for personal AI compute consumption—the "AI Compute Card." The card shifts bank card rewards from traditional point-based gift exchanges to large language model (LLM) token packages, GPU inference hours, and AI office tools. The three parties have clearly defined roles: UnionPay provides the cloud computing platform aggregating multiple LLMs, Tencent Cloud supplies the WorkBuddy AI agent, and Ping An Bank handles account management and operations. The card features a three-tier progressive rewards structure tied to account opening, payment activity, and asset upgrades. Applications will gradually open in July through Ping An Bank's Pocket Bank app and offline branches. Ping An Bank also plans to launch a credit card under the same theme in July. The move is seen as a customer acquisition experiment targeting younger demographics amid cutthroat competition in China's banking sector.
