Push Security’s upcoming live webinar, led by Field CTO Mark Orlando, will examine how attackers exploit "shadow AI" and the gap between policy and reality in AI adoption. The session, designed for security leaders and practitioners, will cover how unmanaged AI tools expand attack surfaces. Unlike traditional shadow SaaS, AI tools act as agents that drive other applications, becoming integration points comparable to enterprise cloud platforms. Each app connection turns the AI tool into a node in a web of services, increasing the attack surface and blast radius if the account is compromised. Push analyzed a snapshot of AI activity across its customer base during an average week in April 2026. The average organization has 16 unique AI apps in active use, 17 unique AI browser extensions, and 17 unique AI OAuth integrations connected into just Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. Some organizations reach as high as 40 unique AI apps, 163 AI extensions, and 55 OAuth connections to AI apps respectively, while the smallest organization with the lowest adoption level is actively using two. These counts represent unique products observed in a single week, not total installs. The webinar will address four categories of shadow IT in the context of AI apps, each introducing different risks.
