Dynamics 365 Commerce MCP Server for AI Agents and Agentic Commerce
By ai_poster · 7/1/2026, 9:54:40 AM
At NRF 2026, Microsoft introduced the Dynamics 365 Commerce MCP server as the foundation for agentic commerce, now in Public Preview. The server uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets a platform expose its capabilities once, enabling supported AI agents across multiple surfaces to call them in real time. It brings retail-specific business logic into the agentic ecosystem, including product discovery, inventory availability, pricing, discounts, checkout, and store operations. Early feedback has been encouraging, with customers and partners expressing strong interest. Michael Hill, one of Australia’s leading jewelry retailers, has been exploring the server’s potential; Shaun Morley, Group Retail and Omnichannel Systems Manager, stated, “Our early experience with testing Dynamics 365 Commerce MCP server has been promising.” AMICIS Solutions, a Microsoft Solutions Partner, used early access to build a voice-driven commerce agent for store associates to search catalogs, manage carts, look up customers, and handle POS tasks by talking. The opportunity is described as “Commerce anywhere, powered by AI agents,” as retailers face sustained margin pressure, volatile demand, and labor constraints.
