WhatsApp to add custom names, pictures to Meta AI chats

WhatsApp is showing Meta AI chats directly in the chat list for some Android beta testers, according to WABetaInfo. Within the current chat with Meta AI, an option in the overflow menu allows creating a new chat; selecting it prompts a bottom sheet where users can enter a chat name, such as "Trip Planning" and "Recipe Ideas", and choose a different profile picture. After creation, the chat appears in the Chats tab as usual, with a chatbot icon above the profile picture to signify it is AI-generated. A new filter for AI chats is available to group them together, and users not keen on the filter can choose not to use it or place it in another part. Earlier this year, WhatsApp added threads to keep Meta AI conversations organised by topic, with each thread keeping its own context; the new setup turns those threads into full chats. The feature is limited to some beta testers running WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.44.6 from the Google Play Store.
