Black Hat USA 2026 opens its Trainings program tomorrow, August 1, at Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, marking the first time in the conference's 29-year history that Briefings research targets the physical infrastructure running AI workloads. The 29th annual event runs August 1 through 6, with Summit Day on August 4 and the main Briefings conference August 5 and 6. Research includes a Rowhammer attack against NVIDIA GDDR6 GPU memory, a compiler technique that reintroduces security bugs, and a keynote on AI-powered exploit generation. GPUBreach, presented at the 47th IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy in April 2026 by researchers at the University of Toronto, demonstrates that Rowhammer bit-flips in GDDR6 GPU memory can be chained into full CPU-level privilege escalation. The attack uses CUDA's Unified Virtual Memory subsystem to position memory allocations. The government keynote lineup includes White House National Cyber Director Sean Cairncross on August 4, followed by a panel with Nick Andersen, Acting Director of CISA; Brett Leatherman, Assistant Director of the FBI's Cyber Division; and Katherine (Katie) E. Sutton, Assistant Secretary of War for Cyber Policy, in a session titled "Cyber Power in the Age of AI." DEF CON 34 follows at the Las Vegas Convention Center beginning August 6.
