Behnaz Farahi, an Iranian-born, American interdisciplinary designer and director of the Critical Matter research group at the MIT Media Lab, discussed her project *Gaze to the Stars* in a Zoom interview. The project transformed MIT’s Great Dome into a storytelling vehicle by collecting **200 eyes** and **200 stories** through a sensory pod. Inside the pod, participants looked into an infinity room and had a conversation with an AI, which asked questions like "What are you longing for?" or "What do you dream of becoming?" to understand their story. Each story was turned into **ten words**, encoded as a Braille message in each iris, and, over **three nights**, all these eyes with their encoded messages were projected onto the dome. Farahi’s work relates to social interaction and the gaze, asking from a critical feminist perspective what it means to be observed and to observe, and how power is negotiated through the act of looking.
