According to fresh data from Statistics Canada, Canadian businesses are adopting artificial intelligence at nearly three times the rate they were two years ago. In the second quarter of 2026, 19.2% of Canadian businesses reported using AI to produce goods or deliver services in the prior 12 months, up from 6.1% in the second quarter of 2024. The data comes from the Canadian Survey on Business Conditions, fielded from early April to early May 2026. A parallel measure shows that 30% of Canadian employees now report personally using AI tools at work, up from 17% in September 2024. Claude’s search interest in Canada is up 755% year-over-year, while DeepSeek’s Canadian search volume has fallen 56% since last year. ChatGPT still commands the largest single share of attention by a wide margin. The article also discusses which businesses are adopting AI, which vendors are capturing growth, and how far Canada has to go before adoption becomes the norm.
