Robotics and physical AI are emerging as a defining industry for the next decade, attracting $19 billion in capital this year alone, even as traditional software faces layoffs. Sapir Hadad, Executive Director of Fiverr’s AI Lab and Physical AI and Co-Founder and CEO of Gen AI startup D-0, says, "If I were to bet on something in the future, it would be physical AI and robotics," calling it "the most important thing in the next two decades at least." The sector's growth is visible beyond factories and warehouses: in March, an animatronic Olaf debuted at Disneyland Paris, and in July, US-based Sunday Robotics previewed its ACT-2 foundational AI model, which achieved a 99% success rate autonomously folding laundry in unfamiliar homes. Hadad attributes the shift to foundational AI models and an accessible hardware supply chain, noting that robotics "up until around five years ago, was like a research field." She wrote on X that the industry is transitioning "from labs to companies, from research to products, and from pilots to commercial deployment," adding, "We are still at the very beginning of the wave... The investments are already here, but the vast majority of commercial deployments are still ahead of us." Hadad told CTech, "now is the time that robotics is getting its software moment," describing it as "a massive market."
