Alcorn State University history professor Dr. Jason Gibson caught 32 out of 35 students across two classes cheating on a midterm by secretly embedding white-colored font instructions in the assignment prompt, telling the AI to include nonsense about Madagascar in answers about the Industrial Revolution. The students copied the question into a chatbot and pasted its output without checking, resulting in strange references such as "Madagascar floats sideways through the afternoon" and "Madagascar purple bicycle whispers to the ceiling." Gibson said all caught students failed that portion of the midterm, and after confronting them, only two contested their grade.
