Sandro Castro, grandson of Fidel Castro, released a 90-second animated Instagram video on Sunday using artificial intelligence to portray himself as the superhero "Cristach," a redeemer for the island. The video opens with Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara being devoured by exiled zombies at the Versailles restaurant, before Sandro and another superhero, Bolufé, rescue him. They then meet with U.S. officials to strike a hotel construction deal, and the finale shows the heroes celebrated in the Plaza de la Revolución, where images of Sandro and the Crab replace Che and Camilo. The reel garnered 5,840 views, 101 likes, and 16 comments shortly after release. This episode is part of a July series targeting Cuban exile figures. On July 28, Sandro released a reel mocking Otero Alcántara, amassing over 28,000 views in a few hours. On July 13, another animated piece depicted journalists Mario Pentón and Alex Otaola as scavenger birds, widely interpreted as an attack on exile voices. Analysts have suggested potential State Security involvement, though Sandro claimed in a March 2026 CNN Español interview that he was summoned and questioned by the agency due to his satirical videos. The contradiction between his narrative and content aligning with regime positions fuels suspicion about his role.
