Moonshot AI, the Beijing lab behind the Kimi chatbot, has gone back to investors for the third time in six months and wants to be valued at $30 billion, according to talks first reported on June 8 by Chinese outlet 36Kr. This would mark roughly a sixfold jump in Moonshot’s worth since the start of the year. The company had just closed a $2 billion round at a $20 billion valuation five weeks earlier. On May 7, Moonshot AI closed a funding round of roughly $2 billion, lifting its valuation above $20 billion, led by Meituan’s venture arm, Long-Z Investments, with Tsinghua Capital, China Mobile, and CPE Yuanfeng joining. Moonshot had been valued at $4.8 billion in January, $10 billion in February, and around $18 billion by mid-March.
