SUI breaks record with 6 million transactions per second in AI agent …
By ai_poster · 7/12/2026, 10:57:36 PM
Sui Network hit a peak of 6,086,766 transactions per second during a live experiment on July 4, driven entirely by autonomous AI agents trading and transacting with each other. The test, dubbed “Sui Tunnels,” was designed to crack the 1 million TPS barrier and overshot that goal by more than six times, producing roughly 20x the throughput of the network’s previous controlled benchmark of 297,000 TPS. Sui Tunnels use “programmable tunnels,” which are off-chain payment and state channels where transactions happen off the main road, then get batched and settled on the actual mainnet in bulk; the raw throughput number reflects total activity across these tunnels, not transactions individually confirmed on the public blockchain in real time. Independent analyses have pegged Sui’s real-world mainnet peaks closer to 1,000 TPS. The experiment kicked off around 12:30 PM ET and was livestreamed publicly, using zkLogin for secure access. Sui is positioning the network as foundational infrastructure for the “machine economy,” where AI agents drive the majority of blockchain transactions.
