Pompano Beach High School, Peters Elementary and Indian Trace Elementary School are the first monthly winners of the Microsoft AI/Copilot Innovation Recognition Program, each earning $4,000 and an opportunity to participate in the School of the Year competition. Broward County Public Schools created the program to celebrate schools that use Microsoft Copilot to solve real instructional and operational problems; fourteen schools applied in September. Representatives from Pompano Beach High School and Indian Trace Elementary School were recognized at the Nov. 4 School Board Workshop meeting. At Pompano Beach High, staff use Copilot across English Language Arts, science, social studies, math, electives, administration and counseling to draft lessons, differentiate assignments, write family communications and summarize meetings, logging more than 5,300 Copilot interactions since April. Peters Elementary used Copilot to merge teacher schedules, multi-tiered system of supports data and progress monitoring plan lists into a single RTI meeting schedule, and its literacy coach built small-group reading plans for grades 2–5 while its math coach created lesson plans and instructional focus calendars aligned to B.E.S.T. standards. Indian Trace Elementary held schoolwide Copilot training for every Pre-K–5 classroom, teaching a shared Goal–Context–Source–Expectations prompting method and a privacy-first approach to small-group planning. All three schools now advance to the School of the Year competition.
