According to a CoinDesk report citing data from credit card transaction analysis firm Indagari, Anthropic’s AI assistant Claude is attracting paying consumers more rapidly, with revenue increasing by approximately 75% this year. Indagari analyzed anonymized credit card transaction data from approximately 28 million U.S. consumers, covering weekly transactions from 2025 through May 10, 2026, including subscription payments and API token expenditures. Since 2026, revenue and user numbers from paying consumers for Claude have been growing month over month, indicating Anthropic’s customer base may be expanding beyond enterprises and developers. TechCrunch reported that Claude experienced significant growth in March, with momentum continuing into subsequent months. However, in terms of overall scale, ChatGPT still leads significantly, though Claude is narrowing the gap more quickly, particularly in consumer spending and brand awareness. Data from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower also shows Claude has maintained growth but still lags considerably behind ChatGPT. Additionally, the learning platform DataCamp told TechCrunch that “Claude” has become the most searched term on the platform, surpassing “AI” itself. Anthropic did not comment on the above data.
