At Galaxy Unpacked, Google and Samsung announced new AI tools for Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 series and Z Flip 8. AI task automation, introduced in beta in February, expands from a handful of apps to 40, allowing Gemini to shop, make dinner reservations, book travel experiences, and buy tickets. The feature will be available from the Galaxy Z Flip 8’s Flex Window by long-pressing the power button. Samsung’s foldables come pre-installed with Gemini Notebook, formerly NotebookLM, a deep research tool for organizing sources. A six-month trial of Google AI Pro comes with every Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8 device. The Galaxy Watch 9 will let users activate Gemini by raising their wrist. Two more frames for Android XR smart glasses were revealed, launching this fall. A native migration experience built into Android 17 allows data transfer from iPhones without a separate app, rolling out to select Pixel models and initially available on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8, and Flip 8.
