Google announced that ‘Ask Maps’ is coming to Canada in the latest rollout, bringing Gemini capability to Google Maps. The feature, first introduced in March, was not previously available in Canada. The Canadian rollout includes Personal Intelligence, which gives Ask Maps access to flight, dining, and event details from Gmail to provide directions, nearby spots, or timely arrival information without checking the inbox. It also includes more real-time information, such as public transit navigation with live train and bus schedules, route disruption updates, and live busyness levels. Both features are coming to Canada on Android and iOS. Agentic features are not coming to Canada, but they are coming to Ask Maps in the U.S., where the feature will handle complex tasks like ordering food for pickup or delivery via Uber Eats and other partners, looking up hotel availability and prices, and discovering nearby events.
