Obsidian Security, a platform securing non-human identities and AI agents across third-party applications, has closed an $85m Series D funding round led by Crescent Cove Advisors, with participation from existing backers Greylock Partners and Menlo Ventures. The company reports more than 100 customers now spending over $100K a year on the platform and upwards of 14 customers spending more than $1m annually. The raise comes as businesses deploy AI agents built on models including Anthropic’s Claude, OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot Studio, seeking governance for agent behavior in third-party applications. Obsidian notes non-human identities now outnumber human identities by 144 to 1 within these applications, a gap widening as frontier-model agents proliferate. The new capital will extend its reach across the Fortune 500 and Global 2000. Its technology provides runtime governance to identify and halt privilege escalation, excessive data access and policy breaches for agents on platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, n8n, Google Vertex, Amazon Bedrock and OpenAI, alongside a full inventory of agents, MCP servers and large language models. New capabilities extend agent access governance to Anthropic’s Claude Code and Cowork, and introduce real-time runtime protection for agents built on Microsoft Copilot and Anthropic Claude, drawing on risk factors aligned with OWASP standards.
