Dentsu announced on July 31 that it will release "Verse of Birth," a PC game where generative AI automatically creates characters based on words input by players, on the Steam platform within 2026. Developed by the cross-departmental "Dentsu Game Center" team, the roguelike tactical battle game features a character creation system that generates units called "Logos" from player text, determining their name, appearance, and abilities. Dentsu has filed a patent application for this system. The turn-based auto-battle gameplay involves team formation and strategic front-and-back row arrangement, with over 50 types of events and high-difficulty challenge modes. The game supports Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. For illustration generation, Dentsu adopted "Adobe Firefly," trained on licensed or rights-owned content, while OpenAI's API generates character names and flavor text. Dentsu stated it "utilized generative AI not merely for efficiency, but as an element that creates unique experiential value," applying its advertising expertise to game development. The company will exhibit the title at "Tokyo Game Dungeon 13" on August 8 and intends to promote generative AI-driven content development across advertising and entertainment.
