Naver Cloud unveiled its independently developed lightweight, defense-specialized, omnimodal AI model, 'HyperClovaX SEED 4B', at the '2026 Korea Military Science and Technology Society General Academic Conference' held from June 10 to 12. The model is equipped with proprietary technology including a vision encoder (HyperClovaX CLIP) and an audio encoder, and was trained on Korea-specific data. It was optimized by pruning and knowledge distillation techniques from a previous large language model with 8 billion parameters (8B), reducing the model size by half while improving performance. Naver Cloud aims to implement a full-stack defense AI strategy, presenting a sovereign AI system operable within closed networks to secure data sovereignty and security. The company plans to establish a foundation for defense AI transformation (AX) by the end of this year and to expand AI agents across all areas of defense by 2030.
