LG Energy Solution Ltd. has secured battery supply deals with leading humanoid robot makers, including Boston Dynamics Inc. and Tesla Inc. The company chose L&F Co. as the primary supplier of cathode materials for batteries used in Tesla's electric vehicles and humanoid robots, bypassing its parent LG Chem Ltd. for the first time in favor of ultra-high nickel battery materials. Boston Dynamics, a robotics arm of Hyundai Motor Group, decided to price its humanoid Atlas below the cost of employing two US manufacturing workers for two years, or about $320,000. Hyundai Motor Group plans to deploy about 25,000 Atlas humanoid robots across its factories from 2028. HL Mando Co., a South Korean auto parts maker supplying actuators for Boston Dynamics' quadruped robot Spot, is seeking to expand production in North America to target Tesla's humanoid robot, Optimus. South Korea's automotive and information technology component makers are increasingly joining the humanoid robotics industry, adding $68 billion in market value.
