A 2025 Bank of America study found that more than half of all men and women in Gen Z have pivoted to the “$0 date,” a trend in which little-to-no spending is done on a romantic outing. MoneyLion turned to ChatGPT for a solution, asking the artificial intelligence chatbot to craft a series of dates, all of which could be had for $50 or less. ChatGPT suggested five dates. The first, a coffee, bookstore and a walk, costs approximately $25 to $35, starting with coffee at a local café for $10 to $15, then browsing a bookstore or record shop, and finishing with a walk through a park or downtown area. The second, a farmers market picnic, costs approximately $30 to $45, involving shopping for bread, fruit, cheese, pastries and snacks and picnicking at a nearby park. The third, a happy hour challenge, costs approximately $35 to $50, where each person orders one thing they’ve never tried. The fourth, a free museum with dessert, costs approximately $20 to $40, taking advantage of free museum evenings or suggested donations and spending money afterward on ice cream or coffee. The fifth, a sunset date, costs approximately $15 to $30, involving grabbing two takeout sandwiches and walking to a good viewpoint.
