Anthropic launched Claude for Teachers, giving verified U.S. K-12 educators free access to premium AI tools. The program includes access to Anthropic’s premium Claude capabilities, a standards-mapped connector called Learning Commons, and a collection of teaching workflows for curriculum planning, assessment creation, and student feedback. Anthropic said the product follows its requirement that users be at least 18 years old, and data shared through Claude for Teachers will not be used to train its AI models. Student information protections are supported through a K-12 data processing agreement designed to align with federal student privacy requirements, including FERPA. Anthropic said Claude for Teachers can connect with several education platforms, including ASSISTments, Brisk Teaching, Canva Education, Coteach, Diffit, Eedi, MagicSchool, Snorkl and TeachFX. The company highlighted classroom use cases such as adapting lesson plans for different skill levels, analyzing classroom data, and automating recurring tasks like reviewing exit tickets. Anthropic said it has been working with the American Federation of Teachers on privacy and responsible AI standards for K-12 environments.
