Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha held bilateral meetings in Hong Kong on July 8, 2026, during his visit for LEAP East to strengthen technology partnerships between Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong. He met with Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Prof. Sun Dong to discuss cooperation in AI, advanced technologies, and the technology innovation ecosystem. The minister also met with Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation Cordelia Chung to discuss collaboration in startup enablement and developing pathways for national talent. Additionally, he met with Executive Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of SenseTime Dr. Xu Li to discuss advanced AI applications and deploying them across key sectors to foster technological innovation and open new avenues for partnerships in the digital economy.
