LG Uplus is expanding its public-sector cloud business by combining Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure with its own network and security capabilities. On the 12th, the company officially registered "LG Uplus Reselling Service for Amazon Web Services," a brokerage service for AWS cloud infrastructure-as-a-service, on the Digital Service Marketplace, a public-sector system that allows the central government, local governments and state-run institutions to search for and contract digital services such as cloud offerings. Drawing on its cloud deployment and operations expertise and its experience running its own telecommunications infrastructure, LG Uplus plans to help agencies adopt AWS services tailored to their own standards and work requirements. Examples include chatbots for civil complaint handling and administrative support using generative artificial intelligence (AI) services, AI-based information search services, and database systems for managing statistical and administrative data. Jung Young-hoon, senior vice president and head of LG Uplus's enterprise AI business, said the company aims to become a key AX partner supporting cloud-native adoption at public institutions by pooling its know-how in developing and operating AI services.
