Stanford was their golden ticket - could AI help or hinder that?

Stanford graduates are rethinking their futures as AI transforms the tech industry, with some booing speakers who mention the technology. At Stanford University, Google CEO Sundar Pichai joked about being told to avoid the topic, but a group of graduates walked out during his remarks, with some carrying signs reading "ICE spies with Google AI" and waving Palestinian flags. The BBC spoke to graduates after Pichai's address, finding a range of views. Ifdita Hasan, a graduating computer science and AI major, said "I feel optimistic about AI" and called it "a tool that people should try to use and try to adapt to," noting early pessimism is common with emerging technologies. Atash Heil, an Earth Systems major, expressed fear about the uncertainty of an AI-dominated future and the speed of transformation, saying after visiting an exhibit featuring AI-made art, "I thought it was scary, especially on my graduation day, to see that. The future is… that? I want art to be made by humans." Nearly everyone agrees AI is already changing the world around them.
