Anthropic PBC has struck a US$10 billion (RM40.96 billion) deal for computing capacity from Volta Infra Holdings Ltd, a months-old infrastructure startup backed by Nvidia Corp, according to people familiar with the matter. The AI developer signed a contract to use a data centre managed by Volta, which earlier Tuesday said it had secured the US$10 billion deal with an unnamed AI lab, delivered in partnership with Bitcoin miner Bitdeer Technologies Group using a site in Norway. The agreement runs for six years. Volta CEO Ricard Boada declined to name the client, and representatives for Anthropic and Bitdeer declined to comment. Anthropic has inked computing agreements with Elon Musk’s SpaceX, Advanced Micro Devices Inc and Akamai Technologies Inc, and is in discussions to lease computing power from Meta Platforms Inc’s data centres. Anthropic raised US$65 billion in a funding round earlier this year and is considering tapping public markets with a Wall Street debut as soon as this year. The Norway site offers 133MW of capacity and will be stocked with Nvidia’s newest Vera Rubin chips. Founded in January by former Brookfield Asset Management Ltd executives, Volta announced Tuesday it raised US$300 million in venture funding, valuing it at US$2.4 billion. Bitdeer plans to convert some crypto sites in Texas, Tennessee and Washington state to support AI applications.
