Adobe is expanding its partnership with OpenAI's ChatGPT through a new integration: an Adobe for ChatGPT plugin. The tool lets users access Adobe-quality creative tools via the ChatGPT interface and works in both Work and Codex, available today in the ChatGPT web and app. Drawing on more than 70 tools across Adobe's creative and productivity suites, the plugin supports workflows from editing photos and creating campaign videos to designing marketing assets and generating polished PDFs. Adobe said it unifies and builds on its existing ChatGPT apps, which include Photoshop, Express, and Acrobat, made available for free in ChatGPT in December. The plugin aims to keep design-related tasks within a single interface. An Adobe spokesperson clarified that some tools will be available to everyone, but others will depend on a user's Adobe account, with free account holders having usage limits. Adobe's announcement added that users can continue work in Adobe's apps for advanced editing or pixel-level precision. Adobe also has its own AI assistants in Photoshop, Express, and Firefly, plus integrations with Anthropic's Claude and Microsoft Copilot. Adobe's licensed training data and ability to restrict tools to a company's IP position its technology as a commercially safer option. An Adobe employee said licensed training data still matters to enterprise clients, but tools like Claude Design haven't emerged as a major competitor yet.
