OpenAI CEO Sam Altman spoke at the AI Action Summit in Paris in February. Tech journalist Karen Hao, author of *Empire of AI: Dreams and Nightmares in Sam Altman’s OpenAI*, says the real risks of AI are already here, stating, “We are allowing the tech industry to consolidate this extraordinary degree of resources unlike anything ever before.” Hao explains that in the AI era, the amount of resources and influence is “of a fundamentally different degree” compared to the social media era. The Center for Investigative Reporting, which produces Mother Jones, is currently suing OpenAI and Microsoft for copyright infringement.
