President Lee Jae-myung visited San Francisco, United States, from July 24 to 25, local time, to promote an "irreplaceable AI alliance." On July 24, at the 'San Francisco AI Summit,' he showcased Korea's semiconductor and manufacturing capabilities to global Big Tech firms, meeting sequentially with Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia; Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI; Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic; and Hock Tan, CEO of Broadcom. On July 25, at the 'Silicon Valley Venture Investment Meetup,' he connected Korean startups with Silicon Valley venture capital investors. President Lee stated, "Korea and the United States must expand our cooperation beyond a longstanding security alliance to encompass a technological alliance, an innovation alliance, and a startup alliance." The visit included a "$950 Billion Semiconductor Deal" between Samsung and SK, and a "5GW AIDC Project" in the works. Policy chief Kim Yong-beom explained the summit's purpose as "to create accomplishments across the full AI stack." There were no summit-level meetings or high-level government consultations.
