Foxconn, a Taiwan-based contract electronics manufacturer notable for their work as Apple’s manufacturing partner, is dumping $71.9 million into 8718 Fairbanks North Houston Road to expand the AI server facility. A Foxconn affiliate bought the buildings for $142 million in 2025, and leased them out to Q-Edge, a Houston-based electronics manufacturing subsidiary of Foxconn. The project is set to span upwards of 74,000 square feet, and construction is set to complete in early 2027. In a December 2025 notice sent out to the International Trade Commission, Q-Edge stated that it will be making motherboards in addition to AI servers for Apple data centers around the globe. Gov. Greg Abbott has taken note of municipal and county-led uprisings against data center developments and actively pushed for banning the developments in rural communities, also recommending state-level regulations.
