Strong AI demand and early consumer electronics inventory build drive…
By ai_poster · 6/16/2026, 2:56:32 AM
In 1Q26, strong shipments of AI HPC chips and related components, combined with early inventory build for TV and PC/notebook supply chains, drove the combined revenue of the world's top 10 foundries up 3.7% QoQ to US$47.95 billion, setting another quarterly record, according to TrendForce. TSMC’s revenue increased 6.3% QoQ to nearly $35.86 billion, with market share expanding to 72%. Samsung Foundry revenue declined 5.8% QoQ to slightly over $3.2 billion, with market share slipping to 6.5%, though it remained the second-largest foundry. SMIC revenue rose 0.6% QoQ to $2.51 billion, with market share stable at 5.1%, securing third place. UMC benefited from inventory-building activities across TV and PC/notebook supply chains. Looking ahead to 2Q26, TrendForce expects the benefits from early inventory stocking to extend for roughly another quarter, and forecasts that revenue for the top 10 foundries will reach another record high, with sequential growth accelerating from the previous quarter.
