Intel Corp. is launching a $15 billion share sale to fund investment in next-generation artificial intelligence chips and expand its foundry business. The US chipmaker said Aug. 10 that it plans a public offering of $15 billion in common stock. JPMorgan Chase & Co., Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Morgan Stanley and Citigroup Inc. are serving as joint lead underwriters. They also have a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional $2.25 billion of common stock at the offering price, less underwriting discount. Intel said it will secure funding for investment in next-generation AI semiconductors and its foundry business through the share sale. Intel said expanding markets in AI computing, physical AI, advanced packaging, custom semiconductors and the foundry market will provide significant growth opportunities. Intel said it raised this year’s capital expenditure outlook to $20 billion to respond to rising server CPU demand driven by the spread of AI agents and growing demand for AI semiconductors.
