Apple is expected to host its big event in September to unveil the next set of iPhones, alongside full public releases of beta iOS, macOS, iPadOS and watchOS. The macOS 27 Golden Gate developer beta includes several changes. In Finder, a new ‘suggest file names’ setting under the General tab offers name suggestions for unnamed files, working well for screenshots. When menu bar icons run past the notch, two small arrows appear automatically to show and hide extras. Sidecar touch controls are improved, allowing Mac apps like Shortcuts to be dragged onto an iPad and used as a touchscreen Mac. Siri AI is integrated into Spotlight, which now predicts what users are after when typing, can answer general knowledge questions like "how tall is Tom Cruise?" by sending queries to Siri AI, and appears in contextual menus, such as an ‘ask Siri’ option when selecting multiple files in Finder. Siri can answer questions about long documents like PDFs, comparing two spec sheets for Bluetooth speakers. Siri is also more customisable, allowing changes to accent, expressiveness, and speaking speed.
