SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, will provide its satellite Internet service "Starlink" for free in LaGuaira, Venezuela, following a series of strong earthquakes. On the 28th (local time), SpaceX announced on X that it is currently providing free Internet access to Mobista customers in LaGuaira and is working to extend free services to customers of other telecommunications companies such as Digitel and MobileNet. SpaceX stated that users with a compatible LTE smartphone can stay connected through text messages (SMS) even when local mobile networks are unavailable, as phones automatically connect to the "Starlink Mobile" service. SpaceX had previously announced free Internet services in Venezuela until July 25 of the following month after the earthquake on the 24th. Strong earthquakes with magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 struck northern Venezuela on the 24th. According to the Venezuelan government, 1,450 people were killed, 3,150 were injured, and 12,721 were displaced. The United Nations believes that about 50,000 people have been missing so far.
