Honda is adding Google's Gemini AI to several models via an over-the-air software update to the existing Google Assistant system. The models receiving Gemini include the Civic, Accord, Prelude, CR-V, Passport, and Pilot, but notably not the Ridgeline. For the Civic, Gemini will be available on the Sport Touring Hybrid sedan and hatchback and the Si sedan, 2025 model year and later. "Connected technology is no longer a convenience for Honda customers – it's an essential part of the driving experience," said Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales, in a press release. Honda claims drivers can use more nuanced, natural language commands and engage in "free-flowing" conversation with Gemini, contrasting with traditional systems that require formal, specific commands.
