Why IBM Ventures invested in Leena AI: Accelerating business outcomes…

IBM Ventures has invested in Leena AI, an agentic AI platform that replaces manual workflows with pre-built AI Colleagues capable of resolving requests and automating back-office processes end to end across HR, IT, Finance, and Procurement. IBM Ventures said the challenge represents one of the largest and most immediate opportunities for enterprise AI, noting that rule-based tools and manual helpdesk queues often surface information but cannot resolve underlying requests or run the processes behind them, leaving approvals, system updates, and handoffs to move manually. Leena AI’s proprietary work-tuned model decomposes requests and processes into sub-tasks executed by domain-specific “AI Colleagues” across systems like Workday, ServiceNow, SAP, and Oracle, from employee onboarding to invoice processing, operating within predefined, auditable guardrails. The company has over 500 enterprise customers, more than 200 integrations, and roughly 3x year-over-year growth. IBM said Leena AI’s domain-specific AI Colleagues complement IBM’s broader agent control plane, orchestration, and governance capabilities, creating an opportunity to help enterprises move beyond answering questions toward automating and completing real work, from a single request to a full cross-functional process.
