South Korean President Lee Jae Myung dined with Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang, Broadcom president and CEO Hock Tan, and Microsoft’s Lani Borkar on the evening of July 24 at The Ramp restaurant in San Francisco, alongside South Korean leaders including Samsung Electronics executive chairman Lee Jae-yong. The dinner aimed to foster rapport similar to Huang’s previous chimaek gathering in Seoul. Executives shared casual California fare such as fish and chips, fried calamari, crab cakes and clam chowder. Lee clinked beer bottles and quipped, “We may need some chicken,” later proposing a toast where Huang replied, “We are family.” When Deputy Prime Minister Bae Kyung-hoon offered to pay, guests cheered. Huang asked about South Korea’s economy; Lee said per capita gross domestic product was approaching US$40,000 and the economy was expected to grow more than 3 per cent in 2026, after expanding by around 1 per cent in 2025. Lee gestured to the South Korean business leaders, appearing to credit them for the rebound.
