The visible rich result disappeared in May, while Search Console's FAQ reporting and Rich Results Test support end in June 2026, and Search Console API support is removed in August 2026. This follows an earlier restriction in August 2023 that limited FAQ rich results to "well-known, authoritative government and health websites." HowTo schema followed a similar path, restricted to desktop-only results in 2023 and fully deprecated in 2024, now generating no rich results anywhere on Google. Despite this, FAQPage remains a valid Schema.org type, and Google has stated that unused structured data doesn't cause problems for a site. The markup remains crawlable by Bing, PerplexityBot, and various retrieval-augmented-generation crawlers for AI systems. Generative answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's AI Overviews extract concise facts from pages, making explicitly marked questions with clear answers easier to lift. An analysis by SEOcrawl's 2026 review found that well-structured FAQ content with answers in the 80–150 word range tended to get cited more often by ChatGPT and Perplexity than short, 30-word accordion-style answers, though this is directional rather than definitive.
