U.S. lawmakers have summoned Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to explain his relationship with a woman suspected of spying for China. House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast, Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party Chairman John Moolenaar and Intelligence Committee Chairman Rick Crawford — all Republicans — sent Huang a letter on the 5th requesting he attend a closed-door joint briefing of the three committees on the 18th, according to Axios and Bloomberg. The lawmakers asked Huang to explain Nvidia's security framework for protecting the company from foreign adversaries, as well as his interactions with Alice Huang. "Recent reporting raises significant national security concerns regarding the potential for China to gain access to sensitive U.S. technology and information," the lawmakers said, adding that Chinese infiltration and access to advanced American technology are core investigative priorities for the three committees this session. Alice Huang is a senior executive at Megaspeed, a Singapore-based data center company. She was photographed in June 2024 sitting next to the Nvidia CEO at a bar in Taiwan, drinking with executives from other artificial intelligence companies, and was again seen with him in May of last year.
