Microsoft Stock Rises 1.7% as JPMorgan Backs AI Payoff
By ai_poster · 8/11/2026, 6:08:22 PM
Microsoft shares rose roughly 1.7% Monday morning as JPMorgan expressed growing confidence that hyperscaler AI spending is translating into stronger revenue. The bank cited Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon as evidence, and raised its 2026 year-end S&P 500 target to 8,000 from 7,800. JPMorgan also lifted its S&P 500 earnings estimate to $365 per share for 2026 and $420 for 2027, up from $350 and $390, citing stronger cloud growth, expanding backlogs and improving cash-flow visibility. Microsoft is central to this view, with Azure growth expected at roughly 45% and the company planning around $50 billion in capital expenditures in the current fiscal quarter alone. Microsoft traded at $509.07 on Aug. 10 versus a GF Value of $575.48, putting the stock roughly 11.54% below that benchmark. The article notes that execution now matters more than the headline number, as Microsoft pours tens of billions into AI infrastructure and must convert its backlog into revenue and sustain cash flow.
