Upstage will use U.S. semiconductor company Cerebras' artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor for services such as portal 'Next'. Cerebras announced on its blog on the 10th (local time) that Upstage's 'Solar 31B' model will run on Cerebras' wafer-scale engine (WSE). Upstage will use Cerebras Semiconductor for its B2B AI service and AI search after Portal. Upstage has been providing an AI summary service based on its LLM Solar since the 1st of this month after acquiring AXZ, the portal's next operator. At a "Solar Open Day" event on the 10th, Upstage introduced AI summary service demos working on Cerebras; in keyword-based searches, Cerebras-based AI summaries generated answers in less than one to two seconds, at least one second faster than the Nvidia semiconductor-based AI summary used as a comparison group. Upstage CEO Kim Sung-hoon said on Facebook, "Solar became the first model to go up to Cerebras," adding, "We will make faster AI services with the following." Upstage and Cerebras are expected to gradually expand their cooperation. Julie Choi, CMO of Cerebras, said, "We are excited to work with Upstage to help Korean developers and companies access a new level of reasoning performance."
