Robert and Matilda Wedding: Russia Hosts World's 1st Symbolic Wedding…
By ai_poster · 7/12/2026, 5:01:38 PM
Two humanoid robots, Robert and Matilda, held a symbolic wedding ceremony at Moscow’s Pushkin Library to showcase advancements in robotics. The event, featuring a robotic dog ring-bearer named Dogmatik, aimed to encourage public discussion on the role of intelligent machines in everyday life. Robert, an office worker and blogger, and Matilda, a ballerina, were declared “robo-spouses” by the host on the basis of “full version compatibility and successful system synchronisation.” As per a report by Times of India, the event was held to mark the country's Day of Family, Love and Fidelity. Organisers stressed that the ceremony was a technological showcase intended to highlight advancements in humanoid robotics and encourage public discourse, rather than an attempt to suggest that machines are capable of genuine emotion or legal marriage. The ceremony successfully recreated familiar wedding traditions, including the formal exchange of promises and coordinated movements. While the ceremony was largely symbolic and held no legal standing, it has prompted conversations about the future of artificial intelligence in personal spaces.
