Superlogical, a startup founded by HashiCorp co-founder Mitchell Hashimoto, aims to address fragmentation in software development by turning the terminal into a persistent execution layer shared by developers and AI agents. The company proposes a server-side multiplexer that keeps software sessions “alive” across devices and environments, allowing humans and AI agents to resume, share, and manage long-running coding sessions without losing context. Traditional multiplexers like tmux were designed for individual users to detach and reconnect after network interruptions, but analysts note this is a pain point for enterprises adopting long-running AI coding agents. Manoj Chandra Jha, principal analyst at Nord-IQ Research, said existing tools have zero awareness of whether an agent is waiting for approval or still thinking, forcing developers to manually reconnect to check progress. Superlogical moves the session, not just the terminal connection, by storing authoritative session state on the server and streaming raw terminal data to clients, which reconstruct the session using Hashimoto’s libghostty rendering engine. This allows reconnection from desktop, mobile, or web clients while preserving execution context. Pareekh Jain, principal analyst at Pareekh Consulting, said this reduces interruptions and improves productivity. For CIOs, the appeal is control, as a standardized session tracking exactly what happened could make monitoring and securing agent activity easier, according to Jain. Jha added it could provide a single control layer for tracking, auditing, and managing autonomous software work.
