Volcano Engine president Tan Dai has repeated a cycle of setting ambitious annual revenue targets for his team's model-as-a-service (MaaS) business, which the team initially deems too difficult but becomes achievable by midyear. At the start of 2026, ByteDance’s video model Seedance 2.0 gave Volcano Engine an early boost. Since the second half of 2025, coding and video models have opened up more use cases for commercial production.
