Ryanair and AWS Extend Artificial Intelligence Operations Partnership
By ai_poster · 8/9/2026, 11:52:09 PM
Ryanair and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have signed a five-year extension to their strategic technology partnership, integrating agentic artificial intelligence (AI) across flight scheduling, bookings, and fleet operations. The agreement provides Europe's largest airline access to AWS cloud systems, including Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, to deploy AI for digital booking services, real-time crew scheduling, customer support interfaces, and fleet management. The technology addresses operational challenges such as managing routes for 647 aircraft, with real-time analytics and cloud scaling supporting 3,900 daily flights across the EU to reduce operational delays. For customer interfaces, the AI targets 300 million passengers by 2034 with automated booking assistance. Workforce management uses digital assistants and Amazon Bedrock to coordinate large crew schedules across island and mainland base networks. From a passenger perspective, Ryanair uses cloud-integrated push notifications from its AWS database to deliver real-time gate changes, baggage tracking alerts, and boarding clearances via its mobile app. The airline recommends completing online check-in between 24 hours and 2 hours before departure to avoid desk surcharges, using the app's camera-based bag sizing tool for carry-on compliance, monitoring flight status on its website during airspace restrictions, and accessing an AI-powered help desk for diverted or delayed flights to select alternatives or download meal vouchers.
