Macworld reports that Apple’s new AI features for the Home app in OS 27 require a 2TB iCloud+ subscription at $9.99 per month. The AI capabilities combine activity from multiple HomeKit Secure Video cameras into a single described event with one continuous video, provide plain language descriptions of camera activity, and combine multiple similar notifications into a single updating notification to reduce notification spam. The OS 27 update also allows HomeKit Secure Video cameras to record up to 4K, up from the previous 1080p limit. Apple revealed the 2TB requirement in the release notes for developers for macOS 27 beta 3, and it applies to using the AI features with iOS or iPadOS as well. The base 50GB iCloud+ plan ($0.99 per month) is needed for a single security camera, the 200GB plan ($2.99 per month) supports up to five cameras, and the 2TB plan ($9.99 per month) allows an unlimited number of cameras and is the tier required to enable Apple Intelligence features.
