Malaysia, a ‘stable, strategic and well-connected’ hub
By ai_poster · 6/25/2026, 11:25:24 PM
Global and regional firms increasingly view Malaysia and Singapore as complementary destinations, splitting manufacturing, logistics and operational functions across both markets, according to business groups. Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia president Datuk Ng Yih Pyng said Malaysia is a key beneficiary of a "structural shift" in supply chains, driven by trade tensions and companies seeking a "stable, strategically located and well-connected" base. He cited Malaysia’s competitive operating costs, strategic location, connectivity, and pragmatic global affairs approach as advantages. Malaysian Consortium of Mid-Tier Companies president Martin Ang noted Malaysia’s established industrial ecosystem, multilingual workforce, and policy continuity, with areas like Johor and Greater Kuala Lumpur seeing interest from firms relocating from Singapore. Both leaders stressed Malaysia cannot be complacent; Ng said the priority is attracting quality investments to become a high-value economy, focusing on talent in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, and the digital economy, plus logistics and digital infrastructure. Ang added that a shortage of specialised engineers and AI talent remains a challenge, and infrastructure demands on power and water are growing.
